It has taken me a few days to write about our grand opening because I’ve been at a loss about what to say. Second only to our opening day, Saturday was the most exciting day of my professional life! We were fortunate enough to celebrate with over 100 of our friends, family members, and a large group of folks wanting to learn more about our exciting vision. Liesl and I were overwhelmed by the love and support that we received during the grand opening. Thank you to all who came out to share the special day with us, to congratulate, try out our services, and join in the fun!
We kicked things off with a program that I’ve been wanting to introduce for years now. Over 25 kids join us for the first ever MET-Fit Minis. These kiddos were impressive and tough! It was awesome to watch them learn new movements, challenge themselves, and have a blast along the way. Thank you, Moms and Dads, for bringing your kids to be a part of the exciting debut! I can’t wait to get MET-Fit Minis up on the calendar permanently. Watch for another blog post, outlining the details of our upcoming 4-week session.
The adults weren’t going to be out done by the minis though. We had our largest MET-Fit class ever! Twenty-one high-energy folks push pressed, burpeed, and lunged their way through a fast-paced MET-Fit Express. This is a 30-min class that we plan to bring back to the calendar in August. Express is a concentrated workout that still hits on coreMET-Fit elements of power, strength, and conditioning, but does so with a quicker circuit approach. While it was awesome that over 20 of you wanted to challenge yourselves in this class, we’ll continue to keep MET-Fit Express to a 10-person limit to maintain the quality of the training for everybody.
For me, one of the coolest things about the whole day was how many of you stuck around to the very end. And I’m glad you did, because our competitive weightlifters put on a heck of a show. From 17 to 69, we had lifters of all ages demonstrating the snatch, clean, and jerk. There were several personal records lifted, and even more attempted. If you were intrigued by what you saw, I hope you’ll come join us for a Wednesday night or Saturday morning practice.
Between a packed schedule of minis, express, weightlifting, and ton of great socializing I managed to forget to draw names for our prizes. Thankfully, we had some awesome minis still around after we wrapped up. Big thanks to Annabelle for picking our winners! Check below to see if you’re a big winner. I’ll be emailing all names that were drawn to let you know how to pick up your prize!

Lastly, I want to thank a few of the folks and businesses that helped make the day so much fun. Grill-A-Brothers served up some great food. I heard several folks mention how much they enjoyed their sandwiches. Thanks for all your help, Dan. You guys were great to work with. It was great to have Focus on Health and Fleet Feet with us too. Thank you both for enduring the heat and helping our community learn more about what you have to offer.
The biggest thank you, however, goes to my wife, Liesl. You are an amazing partner, in both life and business. Thank you for helping me realize my vision for MET-Fitness, and for making it even better by adding yours. Liesl and I look forward to continuing to share that vision with you, our community!
